HELLO, I'M MICKIE LAU
I am an entrepreneur and business strategist with a passion for designing meaningful experiences and ideas for the world's unmet needs. My experience as a design researcher and small business owner has helped me become an effective leader and collaborator among my teams and colleagues, crafting an inclusive environment for welcoming new and diverse ideas.

Turning thoughts into actions and making things happen is my superpower — I get sh*t done. While making an impact within my community and beyond is something I strive for — I only aspire to invest my time into creating something both useful and powerful.

ABOUT ME
Born and raised in San Francisco, I have yet to leave this beautiful city I call home — though I have dreams of moving abroad one day, stay tuned! I am extremely motivated and love to learn new things. I am a firm believer in celebrating small wins and bringing positivity to the work that I do.

My mind does not stop, in fact, I don't do well with being stagnant. Seeing progression makes me excited and I can't help but be proud of incremental changes. I am constantly thinking of new ideas and passion projects to embark on. Relationships are my number one priority. When I am not working or studying, you can find me spending time with my family, friends, and my 8 year old german shepherd, Nala.

MY CAREER JOURNEY SO FAR
With only 24 hours in a day, every individual has the same opportunity to utilize their time and create something meaningful for themselves. I first began my career at Google as a UX Researcher gathering insights and offering product recommendations on Project Jacquard. Within a span of 2 years, I started 3 businesses and applied to graduate school, all while being a full-time researcher.

What I've come to find throughout my work experiences are the many similarities between entrepreneurship and user experience — understanding whom our users and customers are, advocating for their wants and needs, and designing a desirable experience is the goal. As a Design Strategy MBA, I have heightened my empathy for people utilizing a human-centric approach to business design.
